The Shangri La Bleu

The Captain and Crew

For more than a decade, Captain Mark and first mate Gloria have provided an escape route to paradise aboard the Shangri La Bleu. Entertaining sail-loving souls from around the world, the Bleu’s captain and crew are always ready to share the allure of another seafaring adventure.

"We met on Friday and married the following Monday. Even after many years of marriage, we still get along like the day we met."

After attending the Crawford Nautical School in Seattle Washington where he received his Merchant Marine (100 Ton) Master Captain’s license, Captain Mark Poole was appointed by the United States Coast Guard. Captain Mark is a former U.S. Marine and a highly decorated combat veteran. The Captain is also one of the recipients of the Louisiana Veterans Purple Heart Honor Medal for combat service, awarded to him last August by Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.

"Once we set out to sea, Mark is the Bleu’s captain, and he is in charge, but when we put in to shore, I’m the boss."

First mate Gloria is an experienced deckhand who has logged numerous hours at sea. Her professionalism, quick wit, relaxed attitude and top-secret Margarita recipe make her an invaluable addition to the Bleu.
Captain Mark and First Mate Gloria have lived aboard the Shangri La Bleu and cruise-sailed through the Northwest Puget Sound area from Seattle to Vancouver BC, the Grand Bahamas Islands (West End, Port Lucaya and Freeport) and the East Coast of the United States from Florida to New Jersey. On recent explorations, the couple has sailed the Bleu along the coastlines of: Florida (Miami to Georgia) • Georgia (Hilton Head) • South Carolina and North Carolina (Charleston, Cape Fear, Myrtle Beach, Buford, Cape Hatteras and the Outer Banks) • Virginia (into the Atlantic, including Chesapeake Bay)
